This page describes panel arrays. These consist of multiple panels of normal beam waveguide single-panel arrays. In most designs, panels are connected by external waveguide power combiners.
The technique allows larger radiating apertures to be constructed for greater gain. Since the single panel arrays are uniformly excited, the radiation patterns of the panel arrays are those of a larger uniformly excited aperture. Polarization is linear and the first sidelobes are 13 dB down. Transmission-type polarization rotators have been developed for these arrays: refer to Page 113.
More than twenty separate designs have been carried out to date at frequencies from 5.9 to 27.5 GHz.
