Feeds using a pair of waveguide slots and a small reflecting plate have been used for many years. These are linear polarized antennas and have a modest efficiency of about 55%. Like other types of backfire-fed designs, the antenna is compact and suited for gimbal-mounting. This style of reflector antenna finds wide applications in many microwave communications systems.
The following is a listing of some standard backfire-fed reflector antennas. Variations to suit your requirements are readily available. The RF port is a waveguide flange located behind the reflector vertex. When noted, the antenna includes a coax adaptor. All antenna feed slots are fully sealed and can be pressurized to 1 psig.
