Model 9170-800 - X-Band Cassegrain Monopulse Antenna
This 4-foot parabolic antenna forms part of a complex 2 - 18 GHz RCS measurement system which has been designed for helicopter environments. The X-Band part of the antenna consists of a graphite-epoxy honeycomb reflector and a 9.1 - 9.3 GHz Cassegrain monopulse tracking feed.
The subreflector for the Cassegrain feed is a low-pass Frequency-Selective Subreflector (FSS) design. A quad-ridged 2 - 4 GHz feed is placed at the prime focus behind the subreflector.
Two large lensed horns are fabricated from the same graphite-epoxy materials and located on each side of the reflector. One horn operates from 8 - 12 GHz and the other from 12 - 18 GHz. Both are dual polarized. The entire system is highly integrated to form a robust structure suitable for operating in severe helicopter vibration environments.
The X-band tracking antenna enables the entire antenna system to maintain accurate pointing under severe operational conditions. |
