Seavey Engineering has developed low-cost fixed site and mobile antennas for these applications. For fixed site work, a simple whip antenna, Model 9500-810, is sufficient to lock onto an Orbcomm satellite.Two special triply-tuned, ultra-low-profile antennas have been designed to mount to the metal surfaces of mobile vehicles such as freight cars, tractor trucks, etc.For use with TIROS and FAISAT LEOs, a series of compact circularly-polarized volute-type antennas are available.
