Several models of high gain, high average power, UHF, left-hand circularly polarized antennas are available for use in Flight Termination Systems (FTS).These antennas are designed to interface to high-velocity, high-acceleration antenna pedestals. They are designed as single helices or arrays of helices fed from a coaxial power divider.All Seavey Engineering FTS antennas are extremely robust in design and construction. Construction is in welded 6061-T6 aluminum alloy with chromate conversion coating and paint finish. Dissimilar metal junctions are eliminated, thus enhancing corrosion resistance. One design incorporates pressurized radomes over each helix. All RF feed points are fully sealed and treated to minimize corona and high-field degradation effects.
